Power is back on for residents in Wakefield following a power outage that affected more than 1,000 Con Edison customers.

It impacted several streets in Wakefield – many told News 12 they spent the morning concerned about their safety.

“Maybe around 7, there was this big boom sound and then the power went out so I reported it,” said Renee Douglas.

The power returned just before noon.
