Residents in Marine Park say aging trees have become a safety concern, especially during storms. They are now calling on the city to take action.
John Loni said one tree in front of his home on Coleman Street has been leaning over for years. He said it hasn't been pruned in about 15 years, despite multiple calls to the city. He said branches fall all the time and he's afraid someone could get hurt.
"Someone could be walking by like two days ago, it really wasn't even a bad storm," he said. "Two little kids were playing on the street. I would say within about 30 seconds, this branch came down. It's frightening."
News 12 reached out to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation about these concerns and is waiting for a response.
