A protest was held in Manhattan Sunday, calling on Gov. Kathy Hochul to remove Mayor Eric Adams. The protesters pointed to Adams' meeting last week with Trump's border czar, alleging they brokered a deal to see criminal charges against Adams dropped in exchange for cooperation with immigration authorities. Both deny the allegations. While Hochul has not indicated she plans to remove Adams, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado posted on X earlier this week, "New York City deserves a Mayor accountable to the people, not beholden to the President. Mayor Adams should step down." Adams responded to calls for his resignation Sunday on X. "The most sanctified among us are calling for me to step down. I'm not going to step down. I am going to step up," Adams said.
