A fun night out turned violent over the weekend, when a Brooklyn man was stabbed multiple times. The victim is now recovering with a fractured spine, stitches and trauma he may never forget.
What started as a birthday celebration for Jordan Tompkins' friend last Saturday night near Bushwick quickly spiraled out of control when Tompkins says a drunk clubgoer completely lost it.
“You hear an argument behind us,” said Tompkins. “Some guy is arguing with some other people, and he's bumping into me and my friend, very aggressively. He's a big guy to the point where I had to, like, kind of just tell him, ‘Hey, watch out, you’re bumping into me.' He turned around to me and was like, 'You want to fight?' I didn't engage him at all.”
Eventually, he says he had no choice but to defend himself, because soon fists were thrown.
In an exclusive video News 12 obtained from that night, one can see a man get up after the fight is over, then charge towards Tompkins with a knife – stabbing him multiple times.
“I had no idea of the stabbing until somebody watching pulled me to the side and said, ‘Hey, don't freak out, but you got stabbed, you’re bleeding.' And I looked, I immediately went to the ground, and I passed out.”
After waking up at Brookdale Hospital, Tompkins says the road to recovery is only getting harder. He’s still not sure the treatment he’s received will be enough.
“I was stabbed once in my back, which punctured my lungs and my lung collapsed," said Tompkins. "I also was stabbed in my left thigh. That never got treated at all. The staff was completely unprofessional. I got yelled at by a nurse. A nurse threw stuff on me when I could not move.”
Doctors tell him he also has a fractured spine.
Before he can even begin to try to walk again, he’s hoping to find the man responsible for it all.
“I think he needs to come clean,” said Tompkins. “That night could have all been settled with just words, but it escalated because I think he wanted to kill someone that night.”
While police are still searching for the suspect. Anyone who knows this man is asked to come forward.
