Suffolk police say a man was driving southbound on Commack Road early this morning when he was shot by someone in another vehicle.
Police say it happened at 2:15 a.m. just north of the Long Island Expressway, but they did not say which direction the alleged shooter was driving or provide details about the driver's vehicle.
Jesse Meyer says the road was closed when he arrived at work this morning.
“There was a huge investigation going on,” Meyer said. “Multiple detectives came in and asked for footage of our cameras. The whole street was shut down, and we were just confused about what was going on.”
He says police had all lanes taped off to look for evidence.
Kenny Parpounas, manager at Premier Diner, says customers couldn’t get to his restaurant for a couple hours.
“Customer was like, ‘What’s going on? What's going on?” Parpounas said. “We didn't know anything about it. Afterwards, we found out about the shooting.”
Police say the victim drove himself to the hospital for treatment. He was expected to be released today.
