Police are investigating a deadly shooting in the parking lot of a Wawa on Route 37 in Toms River. Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy has confirmed to News 12 that the victim was shot while inside a truck outside the convenience store. The suspect then fled the area in a dark-colored sedan. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said that the shooting that occurred this morning at about 7:20 a.m. The Wawa is located at the corner of Route 37 and Garfield Avenue. Multiple police, fire, and EMS crews responded to the scene following the incident. “This is an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released when it becomes available,” Billhimer said.
