A 25-year-old man was shot in an attempted robbery inside the Tremont Avenue Subway Station Wednesday night.

The incident happened just after 8 p.m. on the B and D train platform.

Police say the 25-year-old was approached by two men who demanded the 25-year-old's property.

The victim refused, and a struggle ensued. One of the men shot the 25-year-old in the leg during the struggle. The two men fled the scene on foot without removing any property.

The 25-year-old man was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is expected to recover.

Sources close to the investigation say the two men sought were last seen wearing all black and surgical masks.

There are no arrests, and an investigation is ongoing.
