A 26-year-old man who was punched in the face by an unknown attacker last month succumbed to his injuries eight days later, according to police.

Authorities say Jahlil Johnson was found in front of 2169 Grand Concourse on Aug. 25. He was hospitalized and then pronounced dead on Sept. 1.

Police tell News 12 that they were not informed about the incident until a medical examiner deemed his cause of death a homicide.

Johnson’s attacker remains at large.
