Police are asking for the public’s help after they say an 86-year-old woman was robbed while trying to enter her apartment building in Bushwick.
The incident happened on Wednesday, Dec. 10, around 7:30 p.m., near Stockholm Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, according to police.
Investigators say the woman was walking into her building using her walker when a man approached her and offered to help carry it up the stairs.
Instead of helping, police say the man took her purse off the walker and ran away.
Inside the purse were two cellphones, a Social Security card and a credit card.
Police say the woman was not physically hurt.
The man investigators want to identify was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, black pants, black boots, gloves and a dark-colored hat.
Police are now hoping someone recognizes the man or his clothing and comes forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
