A man lost multiple fingers while using a snowblower Saturday afternoon in Port Jefferson, according to police.
Authorities say it happened at 12 p.m. at a home on East Broadway.
Neighbor Ron Alonso told News 12 he was outside shoveling when it happened and ran over to help.
"Immediately his wife came out, and we laid him up out front and we called the ambulance. There was blood everywhere and we were looking for his fingers. He lost two fingers," Alonso said.
Police had not confirm as of Saturday evening how many fingers the man lost.
Alonso said the ambulance arrived in about 5 or 10 minutes.
The 41-year-old victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
