A man was killed after being hit by a car in East Meadow.

The 70-year-old pedestrian was crossing busy Hempstead Turnpike near Franklin Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck, police say.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he pronounced dead by a physician.

According to detectives, the 70-year-old woman driving the 2014 Toyota Camry stayed at the scene.

Police have not yet released the identity of the man.

No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
