Man dies after being attacked, struck by 2 cars, including NYPD cruiser in Concourse Village
A man is dead after he was knocked unconscious during an assault and left lying in the road where he was struck by two vehicles, including an NYPD cruiser, according to police.
It unfolded near on College Avenue early Saturday morning. News 12 obtained surveillance video of the aftermath where an officer is seen helping the man before emergency responders arrive on scene.
The NYPD says the initial fight broke out between the victim and another man at approximately 3:47 a.m. near the corner of East 165th Street and College Avenue. The victim was left badly beaten and unresponsive in the road.
About 10 minutes later, he became a victim of a hit-and-run. According to the NYPD, a white BMW X5 traveling eastbound on East 165th Street struck the man and drove away.
A short time later, police say an NYPD vehicle hit the man. It was traveling approximately 12 mph, also eastbound on East 165th Street, according to the NYPD.
Police say the officer driving the cruiser stopped immediately, remained at the scene and rendered first aid.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the BMW X5 remains on the run as of Saturday evening.
The victim's identity has not been released.
