A man believed to be in his early 50s was critically injured in a shooting in Bridgeport on Saturday evening, according to police.

The shooting is believed to have occurred in the area of lower East Main Street at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was driven to Bridgeport Hospital by a private vehicle.

He underwent emergency surgery shortly after arriving and was listed in critical condition.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
