A man has been arrested for an armed robbery in Nassau County early Tuesday morning.

Nassau Fourth Squad detectives say the incident happened around 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of Rockaway Turnpike and Pearsall Avenue in North Lawrence.

Edwin Alvarado, 32, of Inwood, approached a 25-year-old man with a knife and demanded his wallet and cellphone.

After a struggle, Alvarado was able to flee the scene with the victim’s cellphone, police say.

Following an investigation, the individual was located and placed into custody.

Alvarado will be charged with robbery first degree when he is arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.

No injuries were reported.
