Man accused of operating narcotics ring out of laundromat near Vassar College
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force says it arrested a man who allegedly operated a drug ring out of a laundromat near Vassar College in the town of Poughkeepsie.
Taryll Cutchin, 50, is accused of packaging and distributing narcotics at the College Wash and Dry Laundromat in the Arlington Business District.
Police say they purchased narcotics from Cutchin multiple times in the area near the laundromat during their investigation.
Officers took Cutchin into custody inside the business on Tuesday. He is charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance.
“The alleged sale of narcotics from a business in the heart of the Arlington community, near Vassar College and surrounded by residents, students, and other businesses, is exactly the type of activity our Drug Task Force is working every day to disrupt,” District Attorney Anthony Parisi stated.
Cutchin was arraigned and released, as required by New York state law.
Police say numerous additional drug-related charges against Cutchin are pending.
“Those who choose to traffic dangerous drugs in our communities should understand that we will identify them, investigate them, and hold them accountable. I commend the members of the Drug Task Force for their continued proactive work to keep narcotics off our streets and protect the people of Dutchess County,” Parisi said.
