A Mamaroneck woman serving 20 years to life for the murder of her 4-year-old son was found dead Wednesday morning in her cell at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, according to the New York State Corrections Department. Manuella Maria Morgado, 60, pleaded guilty in the 2012 murder of Jake Reish. Village police had been called to her condo to check on her when they discovered the boy. He died of suffocation. Authorities say Morgado had tried to kill herself but survived. Morgado and the boy's father had been involved in a custody dispute. The Corrections Department says an autopsy will be performed to determine her cause of death.
