Malcolm Netburn, a member and Chair of the Village’s Briarcliff Manor Planning Board before joining the Board of Trustees, died on Feb. 5. Funeral services were held Sunday morning.
“Trustee Netburn brought to Briarcliff Manor a lifetime of public service, civic leadership, and thoughtful community-building,” a statement from the village read. “…He helped guide the Village through complex land-use matters with fairness, care, and a steady commitment to long-term stewardship.”
He also served the community of Pleasantville for many years, including as a “Planning Commissioner (and Vice Chairman), Village Trustee (and Deputy Mayor), a member of the Conservation Advisory Board, Chair of the Bedford Road Historic Overlay District Study Group and Founding President of the Pleasantville Community Synagogue.”
Flags throughout Briarcliff Manor are being flown at half-staff through Wednesday in his honor.
Netburn had served on the village’s Board of Trustees since 2023. Community leaders say he was known for his gentle demeanor and love of nature. He leaves behind his wife, as well as several children and grandchildren.
