The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Purchase helped raise money for medical research on Sunday.

Walkers began at Manhattanville University and continued for over three miles.

Organizers say the funds will also provide patients with free transportation to chemotherapy treatments and supply them with places to stay near hospitals.

"It's really important that we bring the community together and mobilize people so that anyone going through cancer, no matter what part of their journey they're on, knows that they're not alone,” said Sheila Bogan of the American Cancer Society.
