Bridgeport's huge Puerto Rican festival and parade is coming up this weekend, and we have a preview in this week's Main Street, Connecticut. News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudall is at Seaside Park for us this morning. Good morning, Mark. Good morning, Dary. Yes, can you believe 33 years now this has been going on, a great festival and community event. Joining me this morning is Chris Rosario, state rep, and also the grand marshal of the event. Thank you so much for joining us this morning. So it's really a whole weekend. It all starts tonight with the gala. First and foremost, buenos dias. Welcome to all the viewers. It's an honor to serve as the Grand Marshal, the 33rd annual Puerto Rican Parade of Fairfield County. All the festivities kick off tonight with our gala at Taschell Knows and Trumbull leading into our flag raising tomorrow at Bridgeport City Hall at 1 p.m., culminating with our amazing beautiful festival and parade on Sunday that starts at Central High School and leads down here to beautiful Seaside Park. We have Covered the parade many years. We have some video that we're going to show you here this morning. Talk to me a little bit about the Puerto Rican culture. Well, listen, the Puerto Rican culture is about family. It's about unity. It's about being part of, you know, with America celebrating its 250th year, being an American and being part of this community, the contributions that the Puerto Ricans have made. To the city of Bridgeport, to Fairfield County, and to the state of Connecticut in general. So it's an honor to celebrate and share our culture. If you enjoyed the Bad Bunny halftime show at the Super Bowl, you're going to enjoy this weekend's festivities in Bridgeport. Wow. And look, you know, you and I like to eat, right? So talk to me about some of that classic Puerto Rican food you're going to have. Well, listen, we're going to have rozuela, rocongandules, a little pil. Little roast pork, pork shoulder. We're going to have some roasted chicken and all the things that we love our fried food, our alcapurias, our empanadas. It's going to be great food, great atmosphere, bring the whole family.
