A small shop in Bellport is helping people refresh their homes just in time for spring.

Simple Little Detail is a family-run business started by a husband and wife from Shirley. Dan De Melfi handles the woodworking, building custom furniture by hand, while his wife Danielle works directly with clients and brings each vision to life.

Dan says he never planned to build furniture for a living -- until Danielle asked him to make her a table for her birthday. What started as one project quickly turned into a growing business. The couple designs and refinishes everything from tables to cabinets and chairs, combining craftsmanship with creativity.

The business didn’t start with large furniture pieces, though. The pair first created wooden wine racks, then expanded into hosting hands-on workshops across Long Island, teaching others how to make their own home décor.

Now, years later, Danielle says the most meaningful part of their journey is building the business together as a family and connecting with their community along the way.
