If you love Italian food, you've probably heard of Butera's Restaurant. Martin and Laurie Butera have three locations on Long Island.
They are most popular for their chicken meatballs. "When we opened our restaurant, we used a lot of chicken, and we didn't know what to do with it," said Martin. "I got the idea of grinding and turning it into a meatball, and it took off." Now, the family sells pre-packaged chicken meatballs and family sauce in supermarkets across the tristate.
When Martin and his brother were younger, they started working at his father's pizzeria in Suffolk. They both went to college and later realized food was their passion. They opened their first restaurant in 1991 in Massapequa. Now, they have restaurants in Woodbury, Bay Shore, and Sayville.
