A landlord in Longwood tells News 12 a construction worker in his building found a man dead with a knife in his chest, prompting police to launch a homicide investigation.

The NYPD says officers responded to 1006 Longfellow Ave. just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The landlord says they were doing some renovations in the building when construction workers started to notice a foul smell. Days later, the worker found the tenant dead inside his apartment.

Police have not identified the man as of Wednesday evening.
