Town officials on Long Island are getting plows and trucks ready for the first expected snowstorm of the season.
In the Town of Oyster Bay, crews are ready to treat the roads with salt and sand.
Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino says trucks will be rolling out starting Saturday night just as the storm arrives in the region.
“People will wake up on Sunday morning and see icy roads. They’ll see a blanket of snow. By putting down lots of sand and salt on the roads we reduce the amount of snow that accumulates on those roads," Saladino said.
The town supervisor urges drivers to take it slower on the roads during the storm. If you must go out, leave extra room for the car in front of you.
