Local flower shops gear up for Mother's Day Weekend
Some floral shops across Long Island hired extra workers to deal with the large number of orders expected for Mother's Day weekend.

2h agoFlower shops across the Long Island are gearing up for what they say is one of the biggest and busiest time of the year.
They call this weekend their "Super Bowl" weekend.
Unlike other special days, stores say they need to be prepared with huge assortment for Mother's Day orders.
"What's nice about Valentine's Day you're working with one product. On Mother's Day you have mixed flowers, mixed bouquets, a lot of peonies, which is a beautiful flower, hydrangeas and roses," explained Vincent Gilmore, of Bayview Florist.
A number of floral shops brought in extra workers for Mother's Day weekend.
Some say they're expecting to complete more than a 1,000 orders.
Floral shops are urging customers to order ahead to avoid long waits.
