Connecticut lawmakers are considering a new law that would require children under 12 to wear a life jacket on any public dock or pier.
Last summer, 6-year-old Jaseh Martinez fell off a pier on the Housatonic River in Stratford and drowned. "I don't envision, you know, the 'life preserver police' ready to hand out infractions. I see this more of a safety opportunity and education," says State Rep. Joe Gresko (D-Stratford).
