A Parsippany family says a large hole opened up in their backyard in the middle of the night.
Sonja Bozoska tells News 12 the hole formed on Jan. 29.

“No warning. Just an open collapse in the ground. If we had taken one more step, one of us could have fallen straight in,” Bozoska wrote in an email to News 12.
She says that she believes the hole may have been from an old well from back when the area used to be farmland.

Bozoska says she called Parsippany police and was told it would be the family’s obligation to fill in the hole. But she says a professional told her that the ground is too frozen to fix the issue at this time.
