A truck stopped in the middle of a roadway with its driver slumped over the steering wheel prompted an investigation that led to the recovery of four firearms, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Police said the officers spotted the truck stopped in an active eastbound lane Thursday with the driver passed out behind the wheel.
Lakewood police agents safely secured the vehicle before waking the driver. After the driver failed to follow commands, they safely removed the driver from the truck and discovered a handgun in the door pocket.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of four firearms. The suspect, a previous offender with a history of armed robbery and assault on a peace officer, was arrested on multiple charges.
