King Kullen meat and seafood workers on strike
Meat and seafood workers at King Kullen stores are currently on strike.
The United Food & Commercial Workers Local 342, who represents about 150 workers, says it filed several Unfair Labor Practice Charges with the National Labor Relations Board against King Kullen. A federal mediator was brought in to assist with negotiations, but the union says that King Kullen is refusing to continue the latest session, which was Thursday, April 2.
The union says it will continue to make itself available for continued discussions.
King Kullen gave the following statement to News 12:
“We value the men and women who work in our seafood and meat departments and remain committed to negotiating in good faith to reach a fair contract. In the meantime, we apologize for any service disruptions customers may experience as we work through this process. Our goal is to protect jobs and continue to deliver the best quality and freshest meat and seafood to our customers.”
