The family of a 21-year-old mother killed in a violent car crash in 2023 is finally getting justice.
A jury found Kashawn Croswell guilty of manslaughter, reckless driving, excessive speeding, assault and disobeying traffic control signal indications.
Back in August 2023, Croswell was driving more than twice the speed limit and ran multiple red lights, when he slammed into another car, at the corner of Court Street and Atlantic Avenue.
Shanti Joyner, 21, died from the impact, leaving behind a 1-year-old daughter.
Three other people were severely injured, including Croswell’s girlfriend who was in his car.
Crosswell was also charged with leaving the scene without calling 911, after police found him around the corner with his injured girlfriend, but the jury found him not guilty.
The family of Shanti Joyner says that while the verdict doesn't bring her back, they’re relieved to finally have some closure.
