Juneteenth celebrations continue this weekend in Westchester County. The holiday of course marks the day enslaved Africans learned of their freedom. So let's get right to news. Twelve's Lisa Lara who has much more on this big event coming up in Austin at a great location, so much going on here, Lisa. Uh you know, this festival is the fifth annual Ossining Juneteenth Festival and it is all about culture and history and food and music and dance. And that brings me to our next guest. This is Steven Dillard. He is the founder of Fun Bunch Line Dance. So when you hear line dance, you kind of think country music. So talk a little bit about what you do. Well, I do urban line dance, which is similar to country because we do this a lot of the same movements and si similar to progressive, but we really focus on R and B and soul music. So you're gonna be out there tomorrow, giving some lessons, doing some stuff. I sure am. I'm so grateful that the A and Juneteenth Committee had welcomed us to come down there. And not only that, I'm the MC for the day for all of the event that's happening between 12 and three. So what, what is it like? I mean, it's got to be great for you to share, you clearly have this passion for it to share this and get everybody up and moving and dancing. It, it is so important for us to get up and move. Um emotionally, spiritually and physically and line dancing is a way to put all three of those together. I've been line dancing for 10 years now and we've been really going strong over the last five years. I've been able to go nationwide to different places down to New Orleans up in Chicago all over the place. Line dancing. Can, can you give us a little something? Of course, of course, I can. All right, first thing I want to show you right quick, Lisa is a move called a dig in with the right foot and then a cha cha cha. So we're gonna go 12, right left, right and left. All right. We're gonna follow that up by, we're gonna do that four times and then we're gonna go back with our right foot, 1234 and 56. We're gonna do that again. 1234 and 56, at least as good as this former Harrison high school cheerleader. So, you know, I got some moves still. Let's see what we do after this. We're gonna go with our right foot. We're gonna shuffle two times and then we're gonna take our left up and we're gonna recover. So we're gonna go 123 left up, recover left, right left, right back. Do that again. 123, left up left, right left, right back. You make it easy though. He's a good teacher. Yeah, thank you. I, I'm able to teach at JCC in Tarrytown. We do that on, we do that on Fridays at 12 o'clock. We're starting a whole new set in July. So we'll be doing that. Um We also teach in Arsing on Monday night, seven o'clock to eight. We gotta come do another day with you. We do a whole day with you, but in the meantime, you gotta come check out Steven tomorrow, gonna be a lot of fun. Lewis Park starting at noon tomorrow. You know the event itself, tomorrow is at Lewis Single Park, right on the Hudson River, which is gorgeous. But this morning, we're at Bethany Arts Community. Uh an incredible place in its own all part of the Juneteenth celebration. Fifth annual big part. And as we've been saying all morning, a lot of history, a lot of culture, a lot of music. So let me introduce Debree uh the artist and she is a homegrown girl from Peekskill, singer songwriter. Thanks for being with us. Thank you for having me. This is exciting. Yeah. So you're gonna be performing tomorrow. Talk a little bit about getting to perform at this amazing event. Fifth year and it's just growing and it's such a great, positive kind of event for the community. It's an absolute honor. Um When I hooked up with a fema who's putting the event together, she reached out to me last year at the San Cofa event and she said, we gotta have you on for this year and she kept to her word and brought me on. But it's just very exciting that I'm able to do this for the Austin and community as my sister town being in Peekskill and just at such a joyous event. I'm really excited to show everybody what I have. So tell us a little and we're gonna, we're gonna give you a little, a little, a little taste in just a sec. But tell everybody about you for people who, who aren't familiar with your work and what you do. Sure. So I'm Bria, the artist. I'm a singer songwriter, producer, painter, sketch artist, poet, web designer, brand designer. You do it all. I do it all. I do everything but sports, I tell everybody. So I call myself a three dimensional. That's also what my supporters are called. Three dimensional. Yeah. Hopefully you'll become one. So you are, you are one of those incredibly talented creative people. I'm gonna give you the microphone. Would you, would you give us a little song on our way out? Sure. I'm gonna step out. Thank you. So this is a song called Howland. I wrote it in 2012 and it's a little tiny snippet. Mama told me that you were no good for me. No. And that your gaze was upon my eyes like a piece of meat with some potatoes on the side. But I'm a veggie baby. If you catch me, I'll be good to you. No, but this ain't no dinner for too. You think I'm supposed to eat? You know? And if you think the moon is howling at the dogs tonight and that the curses of your nasty ways come in the sky, my eyes. Who will I just tell the man to stick another plan to you and you ha you out to the game? You howl at the movie? Beautiful. Thank you so much. All right.
