Tens of thousands filled Jones Beach Sunday morning for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
The event is the largest walk of its kind in the country. Now in its 32nd year, the annual event brings together survivors, thrivers and families to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and support services.
Among those walking this year was Dr. Jennifer Halper. She was diagnosed with metaplastic breast cancer in August 2024.
"A year ago, I didn't know if I was going to be here, so I wasn't even thinking about a walk. I was thinking about – will I make it to my next birthday," Halper said.
