A South Jersey artist is getting national recognition after taking a chance on her work. Stockton University student Sandy Hanna’s painting, “Our Lady, Queen of Palestine,” is on display at the New York Academy of Art as one of just 40 paintings selected for the exhibition. Hanna is a finalist for the prestigious AXA Art Prize and the only New Jersey student represented. The winner will receive $10,000, with the announcement expected tomorrow. Hanna initially doubted her chances of being selected but entered the competition anyway. Now, her work is earning recognition on a national stage.
