Putting a child through college can be a financial challenge for many families, but one Rutgers University alum is helping ease that burden for students in his hometown.
For the past 24 years, Jim Cullen has awarded scholarships to four Piscataway High School students each year to attend Rutgers University.
Cullen once made that same journey himself, leaving Piscataway for Rutgers in the 1960s. During his professional career, he served as president of Bell Atlantic, a role that helped provide him with the resources to give back.
But for Cullen, the impact of the scholarships goes beyond financial support. His commitment to helping students pursue higher education has helped shape the futures of young people in his community.
This year, Cullen is celebrating a major milestone - awarding his 100th scholarship, marking more than two decades of investing in the next generation of students.
