A Franklin High School senior has been named as the 2026 YoungArts award winner with distinction in Voice.
Myles Cherette has been added to the list of hundreds of young artists from more than 39 states who have received an award for visual, literary and performing artists.
It is the nation’s only award that recognizes the artistic ability of young talents through a variety of disciplines.
Cherette is both a performer and vocalist who has made a name for himself by blending gospel, jazz and R&B, creating a unique and distinguishing sound.
He first discovered his love for music through the church as a child and continues to spread his talents regularly at the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.
By winning this award, Cherette is now eligible to be nominated for the U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, which is one of the highest honors for high school seniors.
