A 28-year-old woman from Jersey City was arrested for abducting her own child in a car that was stolen, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced on Monday.
The Bogota Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Child Abduction Response Team on Thursday regarding the alleged abduction of a juvenile.
According to Musella, Jahlea Jones did not have custody when she took her child from a home in Bogota and drove to Lodi. Jones was stopped and arrested by the police. She was also found to be operating a vehicle that had been previously reported stolen.
Jones is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, interfering with custody, contempt, unlawful taking by means of conveyance and receiving stolen property. She was taken to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
