A Jersey City hospital that recently closed has withdrawn its application to shut down.
The move comes amid mounting attention over the closure, which left New Jersey's second-largest city with just one emergency room.
Hudson Regional Health had been scheduled to hold a public meeting Tuesday night at the hospital. The latest development also comes as state lawmakers could intervene in the closure, and after the city had tried to step in.
A spokesperson said the hospital is encouraged by talks with its landlord.
