A squirrel caused a power outage in Monmouth County Thursday morning – the second time this has happened in as many months.
JCP&L says that a squirrel came into contact with equipment near the substation, causing a power outage to 13,000 customers near Howell Township. The company said that all customers had their power restored by 1:30 p.m.
This was not the first squirrel to cause widespread power outages in Howell Township. On Aug. 28, a squirrel coming into contact with equipment at the Howell substation caused 11,000 JCP&L customers to lose power.
