Complaints against Fairfield Properties continue to grow as more current and former tenants come forward following two stories earlier this week
“The problem persisted the entire two years we lived there,” said Erin, a former tenant who asked not to use her last name.
Erin said she lived at Fairfield at Suburbia Gardens in West Babylon until June 2025. She shared photos and videos that she said show unsanitary living conditions inside her apartment, including trash bags covered in maggots, roach-infested furniture and an ongoing fruit fly problem.
“We were experiencing the same problems. It’s a health concern,” she said.
Records from the Suffolk County Department of Health show past complaints at the same complex, including a 2023 report involving dog waste attracting rats. Other Fairfield Properties locations have also seen complaints ranging from mice infestations to sewage-related concerns.
News 12 has also learned the company is facing more than a dozen lawsuits. According to court records, the cases include allegations of a child injured by a falling radiator cover and a separate claim from a woman who said she was attacked by a dog that exceeded property weight limits, leaving her with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, more tenants continue reaching out to News 12, describing similar issues with living conditions and response times from management.
Erin said her biggest frustration was a lack of communication.
The New York State Attorney General’s Office said it is reviewing complaints related to Fairfield Properties.
The company did not respond to News 12’s latest request for comment.
