Well, Halloween is finally here and while you wanna have fun, it's also very important to keep your little ghost and goblin safe tonight. Our Lisa La Roca joins us live this morning from Irvington where they are getting ready for Halloween night and adding a little music into the mix. Good morning, Lisa. Good morning to you, Lisa. Good morning, everyone and Happy Halloween, we are on North Dutcher Street here in Irvington. I'm gonna get out of the way and let Danny show you what it's like here. I mean, they really do it up here on Halloween. Would you look at this every single house they are getting ready for what's called tonight. Porcella. You've heard of Coachella, the big uh music festival in California. Well, here they do. Poor Cella started with two dads who also happen to play instruments kicking around an idea. 12 years later, it's a village wide event. The idea is as you go trick or treating in the village, you get to listen to live music, there's going to be local bands playing on front porches and driveways, garages in all different spots. Now, whether you're going trick or treating, you're in Irvington or your own community. It's really important to keep safety in mind. First of all, make sure your kids are visible, whether it's flashlights or glow sticks, get that reflective tape on bags and costumes. Remember, kids are super excited. So parents, it is up to you to make sure your Children do not dart out into the street. Police say that is uh one of their biggest concerns and drive. It's up to you to pay strict attention to the roads, especially during the hours of 5 to 9. Drive slowly and cautiously, of course, no eating the goodies until you get home and check it out. And of course, remind your kids never ever go inside a stranger's home. Can you believe this? I mean, this is just really incredible. So we're gonna be here all morning to learn more about for cello. We're gonna be talking to police a little bit later on as well. Just a bit more about safety things to keep in mind tonight. It is Halloween guys. Look at, I'm all ready. I got my, my trick or treat shirt on and I'm good to go. I mean, but this is incredible, isn't it? I mean, it is an unbelievable scene on that street in Irvington, Lisa. Well, Halloween is finally here and why you want to have a little fun. It's also important to keep those little ghosts and goblins safe. Tonight news twelve's Lisa Lara is live this morning in Irvington where they're getting ready for Halloween as you can see by those decorations. But also they're adding a lot of cool music to the mix tonight. Lisa, what's going on there? This is the coolest thing ever. We're on North Dutcher Street. Let me tell you something. They know how to do Halloween. Here it is one house after another. So cool. Let me introduce you to Douglas mcclure and John Malone who both live here and you guys, you're architects, but you love music and you created Porcella as part of Halloween. Tell me about it. Well, John and I are very close friends and one night at dinner, we were having dinner together and John said, hey, I've got a great idea for Halloween. Let's all dress up as the Ramones and that'll be our costume and we'll learn five songs. And so we did and that sort of started the whole thing. And now you have a stage here built in your house and this, I love this whole thing because you have 10 bands playing throughout the village. It's just something you do. It's not, nobody makes money. It's just like a fun community thing. And so as you go trick or treating, you get live music and get to check out local bands. Yeah. Right. Right. It's grown pretty organically, like you said. Like, so someone would be like, oh, that was kind of cool. And you know, then we, uh, I wanna do that and Doug's been managing a lot of that. It's sort of become almost like a, a little festival, right? Like you said, where no one makes any money. So, so, you know, that's, that also manages the quality of what you get to see here. You know, you didn't pay for anything. So you get what you get. Are you kidding? This is, I mean, this is pretty awesome. You guys must have a ball doing all this. Yeah, it, it's as, as we age, uh it's becoming a bit more of a burden but we do have a ball, we do have a ball, the, uh when you're standing on stage and you look out and we have the street is full from end to end and people are dancing and it, you're just, it's really uplifting. It's a lot of fun. Ok. All right. Well, coming up guys, we're gonna have a little taste of music of what you're gonna see. So, one of the neighbors, one of the kids gonna come play, hang out with us. We're gonna be talking more with police a little later later this morning, uh about Halloween safety as well. So don't go anywhere. But this is a pretty cool place pretty on Halloween guys. I see someone behind you is on the stage ready to rock Lisa. Oh Yeah. Yeah, we are on North Duchess Street. Let me tell you something. These people know how to party Danny just kind of pan for a second. I mean, look at how early it is and we got a whole crew out here all ready to go. Happy Halloween everybody and you see all the decorations in one house is more amazing than the other. So not only do they do Halloween, but they do kind of a music thing called Porcello where they have bands playing on porches as people come by to do trick or treating. And these two guys right here, they are, the co creators started it about 12 years ago, Doug mcclure John Malone. Thanks for being out here and having us like really cool thing. You guys got going on here. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, we've been doing it for about 12 years. It's grown kind of organically, more and more bands. The bands are made up of local people, musicians, non music. So it's sort of a, a sketchy level of, of musical skill going on here. But it's really fun and it's, you know, nobody gets paid. It's sort of like, uh, it's a great community thing. Yeah. Yeah. One of the ideas at the start was the band is the costume. So we try and inhabit the band and we're very particular about trying to get it. Exactly. Right. But this next guy is sort of taken, he's our youngest performer and this is, yeah, guys, this is Luca back here. This is Luca Sing. How you doing this morning, Luca Luca, by the way, is Axl Rose. If you remember that's who he is and you're gonna do a, do a little song for us and you even got the axel kind of move going. So I'm gonna let you sing us out and uh we just got a big party going on here guys in Irvington. Lu and take it away. This is one. Oh What? Mhm There we go. Alright. Well, we know that Halloween is finally here and why you wanna have a lot of fun. It's also very important to stay safe. So Lisa La Rock is in a very special neighborhood in Irvington, taking in all of the Halloween action and talking to officials about why it's so important to stay safe on this night, Lisa. Absolutely, Lise, you know, we've been having fun all morning here uh on North Dutcher Street, they really know how to do Halloween here, every house decorated. But as you mentioned, you know, we really need to remember safety tonight because all the kids are out having a great time. So uh Irving police chief Frank Puli has come out early to join us. Thanks so much for being here chief uh big night for, for you guys and, and for your, your department. Talk a little bit about some of the things that you really wanna stress, the parents should remember tonight. Yeah, exactly. We want everybody to have fun tonight. We want it to be a safe environment for everybody to enjoy. We really want to stress just making sure kids don't dart out into the street. They want to cross at crosswalks, especially the crosswalks have police officers at them. Those are going to be the safest to cross at. We also want to remind people that are driving in the area, slow down, don't be distracted, put the cell phones down and really pay attention for kids in the area. Those are the two main points so that everybody could have a safe and fun Halloween. Sure. And you know, I've been saying all morning, look, you know, the kids are so excited, they're hyped up, they're getting candy, they're dressed up. So, you really, you know, you have to really be on top of them because, you know, they'll forget. And like you said, that's the biggest fear is darting out into a street. Right. Exactly. Yeah. We really want to stress the parents to keep a close eye. The little ones just make sure they're, they're being safe and if you could wear something reflective or that lights up, that's also going to add to the safety too. Yeah. Sure. Now you don't, you don't have a curfew. Some here in the Hudson Valley. Some communities do. But you said it, he usually starts to quiet down around 9, 10 oclock by 9 to 10 o'clock. It starts to kind of become a little bit more quiet. I think everybody had, had a good time, had a long time out. So it starts getting quieter around that time. So, all right. So, just remember keep an eye on those kids and your guys will be out keeping an eye out too. Yeah, we'll be out there making sure everybody's safe. Very good. Well, we know that Halloween is finally here and you wanna have fun, but you gotta keep safe. So let's get right to news shows, Lisa Lara. She is live in a fantastic neighborhood in Irvington where they're having fun and they're keeping an eye on the kids, Lisa. Good morning. Absolutely. Good morning to you, Lisa. Good morning, everyone. And Happy Halloween, we're on North Dutcher Street in Irvington. They go all out. I mean, it is really something to see every single house decorated from top to bottom. Really cool. And then tonight they have a community music festival called Porcella where they have local bands playing right here on the porch. But at the same time, we wanna have fun. We also wanna be safe on Halloween. So we have Irvington police chief Frank M Nelli joining us again. Thanks so much for being here. So, uh, you get a lot of people here for this. So this is kind of something you have to keep an eye on. Yeah. Yep. We do get a lot of people that come into town to watch the bands and trick or treat. We want to have fun, but we also want everybody to be safe. So you'll see all officers out and about directing traffic for vehicles, for pedestrians. We just want to make sure everybody, you know, pays attention is being careful crossing the street at crosswalks, making sure they don't dart into the road, especially young Children. We want drivers to pay attention. We don't want them to be distracted, kind of keep an eye on things and make sure everybody stays safe while they, yeah. And I would imagine that's, you know, the number one concern people driving because, you know, we all, we all know people still text and drive and looking at the phones even though you're not supposed to. Um, and that could end up with some tragic circumstances on a night like Halloween. Right. So we just want people not to be distracted, pay attention to their surroundings, drive carefully. We want people to walk carefully. You'll see some barricades set up at some streets, it's gonna deter some traffic just to keep people safe while they're watching the bands and everybody could have a good time. And also when it comes to the kids, a good idea. Always to have flashlights, glow sticks, reflective, all that stuff. Yep. If you could add something that, you know, lights up or that's reflective to your costumes that also helpful for people to see while you're crossing the street. Um, and just paying attention, look both ways cross at the corners and, and everybody could, you know, enjoy a safe happy Halloween. Yeah, I always say, you know, you can't, you can't depend on the kids because they're excited. They're hyped up, you know, they're looking all over the place. So, uh, you know, and they forget and like you said, the biggest, another big fear darting out into the streets. So all of us as adults really need to be on our game. Absolutely. Parents definitely have to be keeping track of the young ones. You know, they are excited. Wanna go from house to house, they wanna run across the street, keep up with their friends. It's gotta keep them close by and keep a close eye on them. Very good. All right. Well, we hope you have a good, safe, easy Halloween tonight. Twelve's Lisa Laro is in Irvington in a great neighborhood where they're really experiencing Halloween to the fullest even adding a lot of music to the fun, Lisa. This is just incredible, Lisa. We're on North Dutcher Street in Irvington and this is not only where every house goes all out for Halloween, but they also have their own music festival going on right here called Porcello. We're right on the front porch. Let me introduce you to the two architects because they are actually architects by day and rock musicians promoters by night. This is Doug and John, thanks so much for, for having us here again. Porcello. So you got like 10 local bands playing tonight while people trick or treat gotta be a blast. It is a blast and it happens throughout the town. I mean, North Dutch is an awesome street. But if you walk throughout the whole village, it's all over really, really fun. And this just kind of came about. You two were just hanging out one night. And said, hey, how fun would it be on Halloween to just, like, play a couple of songs and it's blossomed for me. Right. It's been about 12 years. We started out playing the Ramones. I think we did a stellar job with that, you know, sort of on a lark and it's grown over time to the size that it is now. And people have actually sort of developed and put together bands, uh, in for this. So we have neighbors that, you know, never played anything that started playing and sort of putting together ensembles for that. Well, speaking of, I want to introduce you to one of the bands playing at six o'clock tonight. This is wild time is the all girl band, all mom band. Thanks for coming out. So, how did this all happen? Uh We're, we're super excited. We're a group of our moms and we didn't want the guys to have all the fun. So why should they? So we picked up a lot of goofy instruments. We play the steel drum, we play the accordion, we have a frog, anything goes and we just come out here and have a good time. You know, I've seen, we're showing the video this morning. It's got to be so much fun to be part of all this. It's a blast. It's a great community event. We really bring the community together and they all come out, they support the bands. There's a huge crowd and we have a great time. Great. So, six o'clock tonight. Right, right here on the stage on the porch. All right, you got to come see wild time, check out these iving to mom. So, and again, also talking about safety to so stick around. We'll be talking with the chief of police in just a little bit guys. Let's go back to you in the studio. So much fun.
