Edison police say a driver has died as the result of Tuesday's crash on Route 1 in Edison.

The crash occurred just after midnight near Grandview Avenue.

Makiano Francois, a 36-year-old from Irvington, was driving a black Mitsubishi involved in the crash. Images from the scene show significant damage to the back of his vehicle. Francois succumbed to his injuries at the hospital following the accident.

The driver of a white Ford Explorer, identified as a 48-year-old man from Brooklyn, was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released from the hospital.
