There was a tragic triple shooting near the 207th Street subway station late Sunday night in Inwood.
According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred around 11:40 p.m. near West 207th Street and 10th Avenue. A 44-year-old man was shot in the face, a 40-year-old man was shot in the chest, and a 37-year-old man was shot in the leg. The two older victims were pronounced dead at hospitals shortly after midnight, while the third victim is receiving treatment at Harlem Hospital.
In the aftermath, residents are expressing concerns about the usual lack of police presence in the neighborhood.
"I never see police in this area, never. You have to go all the way by Broadway to see police because that’s where the police precinct is, so it’s not really safe. If something happens to you—who's going to save you?,” said Cecilia who’s lived in the area for over 10 years.
There was a police presence in the neighborhood Monday. Detectives were visiting local businesses and speaking with residents to gather more information.
The NYPD is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
