A 25-year-old inmate at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn has died, according to Department of Justice officials.

Godfrie Cole was found unresponsive at the federal prison on Tuesday.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cole had been held at MDC Brooklyn since 2024 for a Hobbs Act robbery, a federal crime involving the taking of property through extortion that affects interstate or foreign commerce.
