In the heart of the campus at SUNY Purchase College is where thousands of works come to life.

"The Neuberger Museum of Art is a gathering place," Executive Director Tracy Fitzpatrick said, "we have a variety of exhibitions, some drawn from the permanent collection, some special exhibitions, there's always something to see."

Journey through modern contemporary paintings, stunning sculpted molten metals and rotating exhibitions that light the room.

Proscenium is the eye-opening work of light artist Stephen Antonakos, and it's on view now. It illuminates a fascinating space that spans three walls.

The unique neon fine art bends power and light into a nostalgic glow of unusual patterns.

"Proscenium is an exciting show to see, it's brilliant, it's encompassing, it's immersive," Fitzpatrick said, "it is very ethereal, it creates kind of a meditative space."

Visitors can find contemplative pieces around every corner of the museum.

Through the end of June, a special exhibition is showcasing the work of a community pillar for the first time in years.

"Janet Langsam: Improbable Feminist" gives visitors the chance to explore the body of work of Janet Langsam. She spent decades leading ArtsWestchester as the CEO.

It was one of many places she helped to pave paths for other artists to shine.

"This is the first exhibition of Janet's work since the 1960s," Fitzpatrick said, "Janet has worked long and hard for many, many years as an arts administrator, and I think its really important to see Janet as an artist."

The exhibition brings visitors through her creative journey as a female artist, and how her work reflects the world from a deeper scope.

"I did this series of work focusing on the place where the sky and the Earth come together," Langsam said, "the horizon is not just in landscape, but also in life."
