Still trying to figure out what “6-7” means? You’ve probably reached “unc” status, but it’s totally fine — there are plenty of other people in New Jersey searching for what this and other slang terms mean.

A recent analysis of Google search data for 2026 by Unscramble Letters revealed the state’s most-searched slang words. Topping the list is “chud,” a term often used to insult internet trolls or describe someone who is being obnoxious or rude, the study says.

“Chud” also tops the national list of most-searched slang, but it does not come close to the now-familiar “6-7,” which has more than 1.6 million monthly searches. So, what does “6-7” actually mean? Short answer: absolutely nothing.

“There is no literal meaning to six-seven. Its absurdity is the point, making it a prime example of ‘brainrot’ internet humor, where the randomness itself becomes funny,” the Unscramble Letters study found.

Also on the list is “unc,” which is short for uncle.

“Used humorously to indicate old age — unc status. Anyone perceived as old, out of touch or past their prime,” the study states.

If you’re still reading this and you’re still confused, someone may have referred to you as “unc” recently. Rounding out the top terms New Jerseyans are looking to decipher are “larping,” “foid,” “mogging” and “bird.”

Larping refers to a “poser,” or someone who pretends to be something they are not.

Foid is described as a derogatory, misogynistic slang term for women that blends “female” and “humanoid.”

The study defines mogging as “outclassing someone else by appearing more attractive, skillful or successful.”

Finally, bird is said to mean “someone acting foolishly in relationships.”

A spokesperson for Unscramble Letters said the 2026 most-searched slang words provide insight into the cultural conversations happening in America.

“Using slang is a social signal,” spokesperson Randoh Sallihall said. “What people search for can tell us something about what they are trying to understand and participate in culturally.”

The study by Unscramble Words, which runs the Unscramblerer.com website, used Google Trends to identify the top trending slang words.

So, while slang may change faster than people switch lanes on the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey residents seem just as determined to keep up — one search at a time.
