A man was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal crash in Suffolk County Sunday evening.
Manuel Flores, 28, of Huntington Station, was driving a Toyota SUV when he hit a male pedestrian and fled the scene, Suffolk police say.
The victim, Bacilio Mardoqueo Vasquez Vasquez, 44, of Huntington Station, was hit while crossing New York Avenue.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. just south of West 19th Street in Huntington Station, according to police.
Flores struck the man and did not stop, continuing northbound on New York Avenue.
Mardoqueo Vasquez Vasquez was taken to Huntington Hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead.
The driver is facing a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash when he is arraigned on Monday.
