Hundreds gathered at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury for an annual Good Friday prayer service. The ceremony included a mile-and-a-half walk featuring 14 stone-carved Stations of the Cross, commemorating Jesus's journey to his crucifixion. The event is an annual gathering to kick off Easter weekend. Many joined together to say prayers at each of the stoned stations during the service, which was led by deacons from Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island.

"It's a way that they can reconnect and can remember what Christ went through for us," said John Kennedy of Catholic Cemeteries of Long Island, "and here walking through a cemetery, they're also remembering their loved ones, their friends, their families that have passed with the hopes of a resurrection."
