Officials in Croton-On-Hudson are investigating a case of 'mail fishing' outside a post office.
It happened early Saturday at a location on Maple Street.
Two people were seen 'fishing' mail out of the blue mailbox out front of the post office, according to officials with the village.
Authorities say the two fled in a car.
“It is concerning, more and more of these things are happening locally," says Croton-On-Hudson resident Carol Lynn Schulman.
Officials say the 'fishing' scheme is used by thieves to steal mail out of the mailbox. Typically, they're looking for money.
"Any theft is disturbing," says Ossining resident Brian Kluepfel.
Anyone who used this mailbox on Sept. 12 or 13 is urged to keep an eye out for fraudulent activities.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police.
