It's going to be a beautiful day to be outside across Long Island today.
The island could set a new record for high temperatures.
Places like Jones Beach are expected to be busier than usual. It's still a great spot to walk, jog, or relax on the sand, even during the offseason.
Of course, make sure you also take breaks from the sun and stay hydrated.
While the temperatures feel warm outside, it can be deceptively nice. The ocean will still be in the 40s, making it unsafe for anyone to enter the water without professional gear. Swimming is still prohibited until lifeguards go on duty starting Memorial Day weekend.
"In addition to the normal hazards one would find swimming in the ocean, large surf, rip currents, things like that, the water temperatures are extremely cold," Long Island State Parks Water Safety Director Ken Bohman said.
Looking for something to do this week outdoors? The state just reopened the pitch and putt golf course at Robert Moses, which is open daily and the games area at Jones Beach, which is currently only open on weekends.
