A Long Island congressman one of just two Republican lawmakers to miss out on voting on the massive House budget that effects taxes, energy policies, regulatory reforms and more.
Following the House passage of Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” Speaker Mike Johnson revealed why he believes Rep. Andrew Garbarino missed casting his vote.
Speaker Johnson said, “Andrew Garbarino did not make it in time, he fell asleep in the back, no kidding.”
After an all-night session, the bill narrowly passed 215 to 214 just before 7 a.m. Thursday.
A statement from the congressman says in part, “I was moments away from the House floor, to vote “yes,” when the vote was closed.”
News 12 reached out to Garbarino’s office for further clarification of what happened and requested an on-camera interview. The request were ignored.
