A new homeless shelter that would house about 100 people is moving forward in Poughkeepsie after county and city leaders reached an agreement.
Dutchess County leaders and Poughkeepsie city officials agreed on conditions for the Hope Center on Oakley Street.
The agreement comes nine months after the City Council filed a federal lawsuit seeking to stop the project.
Under the agreement, the facility will have 24-hour security and a 10 p.m. curfew.
The deal also prohibits the construction of additional homeless shelters in the city for 35 years.
The Hope Center is expected to house about 100 people.
